Leather 101: How to care for your leather bag

Choosing a leather purse isn’t just a transaction; it's an investment meant to last for years and years to come (if you give it the proper care). Follow this simple guide to keep your leather bag looking brand spanking new:

What you’ll need:

  • Leather soap
  • 2 white cleaning cloths
  • Lint roller and/or vacuum
  • Leather conditioner

STEP 1 - Remove dust:
Simple empty your bag and lint roll or vacuum the interior. This will help prevent dust and dirt from building up and creating a bigger issue.

STEP 2 - Wipe down the exterior of your bag
Invest in a quality leather soap. Mix a few drops with warm water and wet a soft white cloth (avoid using colored rags to prevent dye transfer). Squeeze out any excess moisture and gently wipe down the exterior of your leather bag.

STEP 3 - Buff the bag
Use another white cloth to buff the bag. You should notice a nice shine to the leather at this stage.

STEP 4 - Condition your bag
Purchase a leather conditioner and apply it to the exterior of your bag following the instructions on the conditioner bottle.

STEP 5 - Clean the hardware
Take a cue tip or clean toothbrush and wipe down the bag’s hardware.

That’s it! If you’re regularly using this bag, be sure to give it a good clean every month or so. When not in use, store it in a dust bag and stuff it with some newspaper so that it maintains its shape. 🕺👜✨
